Job Title and Location: CNC Operator / 560 Jefferson Avenue,Secaucus, NJ 07094

 

Classification: Non-Exempt

 

Reports to: The position will report to the Production Coordinator

 

Job Purpose: Your main responsibility is to set up and operate CNC machines and equipment, safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. You will produce high quality parts with various materials by programming machines to perform the appropriate operations.

 

Essential Functions:

Main Tasks

1.     Prepare and operate CNC machines to performtasks such as cutting, drilling, milling, etc.

2.     Understand specifications of the task at handand the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.

3.      Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function (e.g., programming, tool pathing, etc.)

4.     Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines

5.     Prepare a test run to check if the machinesproduce outputs according to specifications

6.     Set machines to complete full cycles tofabricate parts

7.     Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result

Secondary Tasks

8.     Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

9.      Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

10.  Read drawings and sketches to understand project requirements; follow instructions.

11.  Comply withall safety guidelines

12.  Help to establish and maintain cut files that can be re-used

13.  Maintain inventory of cutting bits

14.  Stay current and advise management on advances in the field

 

Other Duties:

-Responsible for meeting weekly deadline to submit online Timesheets with Job# details

 

Competency & Physical Demands:

- 1-3 years of experience as a CNC operator

- Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings

- Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM

- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills

- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach

- Good communication abilities

- High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus!

- Basic understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of fabrication required.

- Must beable to lift 50 pounds of dead weight on your own.

 

Work Environment:

- You will be sitting at CNC control desk, standing to lift and move material on/off machinery.

- This is a physically demanding job and SBI expects that you will be prepared to spend a regular work day often on your feet.

- Bending and lifting required.

- Regularly exposed to dust and noise.  

- Mostly will work in Shop and Warehouse areas.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours:

- Full Time, 40+ hours per week typically expected

- Typical Work Hours 9am-5pm or 3pm-11pm Monday through Friday, sometimes weekend/overnight hours; hours will vary based on project/company needs

Hourly Rate:

$27 - $30 per hour based on experience and qualifications
